U-Pick

The kids got to go strawberry picking today and ended up bring a whole load of berries to cut and freeze. I didn't have to rush to make lunch, since none of them were that hungry (Gee, I wonder why?).

We are going again tomorrow, I hope. I would like to get some more before the season is out. I guess we caught the last week of the season.

This means in a couple more weeks, it will be blueberry season and we should be heading off to Mooselamoo in Goshen to pick wild blueberries. The kids loved doing that last year, although it was difficult to get a lot because of the bugs. You didn't take two steps without being greeted with a cloud of gnats.

So instead of actually picking blueberrys we were running up and down the mountain waving are arms like madmen and then eventually giving up and going home. We did manage to pick enough for a few batch of blueberry pancakes.

It may turn out that my husband will have to take the three oldest this year, leaving Stephanie and me at home. The midwife frowns on last month of pregnancy excursions. Considering that my bladder capacity has been reduced to 1/3, maybe it would be a good idea that I stay home. After all, there aren't any restrooms nearby.

I really like U-Pick because it's so much fun! Very lucky for you that you don't need to pay to get the blueberries. Although there are a lot of blackberries bushes around my house, we never dare enough to pick a lot and bring it home. Also, they are quite small as well.

BTW, thanks for visiting my blog! :)
