I heard a loud "Crack" and I quickly disconnected my laptop from it's power source. It had been storming much earlier and I had thought the storm was over. So, I had figured that I could start charging my laptop again while I try to surf other people's blogs, and catch up with really interesting customer stories.
Just as I unplugged the power supply (it was no longer connected to my computer, but I didn't want to fry that either), there was another "crack" immediately after a flash of lightening and the power went out. I felt my insides jump. Actually, it was the baby jumping. Now that his hearing is fully formed, he seems a bit jumpy. Hopefully, he'll be used to the loud noises by the time he's born.
Speaking of which, in 2 weeks and 2 days, I will be far enough along to actually be able to have a home birth. Boy, does time fly, but I'll be happy to have this pregnancy over. I usually enjoy my pregnancies, but I'm tired of being tired all the time.
Anyway, the power came on a half hour ago, in which I spent the time looking for items that couldn't be found in the dark, moving the fan to another window to help improve air circulation downstairs, closing the windows upstairs for the air conditioner, putting the candles back that I had just set out for emergency lighting, and throwing out the ice cream pints that I had the kids finish off. Yeah, the very same ones we bought earlier today because of a power outage in Middlebury last night.
Okay, I admit it. I had some too. I wasn't about to let them go bad. And no, there were no pickles.
