I hate shopping at this time of year. I never liked crowds, although I don't have as much of an adversion to them as I used to. Although if I take the kids along with me in a crowded area, I do get nervous because I'm so worried that I will be distracted and one of them will be lost.
My husband watched the kids for me while my sister and I (and her son) went to pick up the turkey. I figured that I can pick do a day early of shopping. Unfortunately, the milk I normally get wasn't in. I guess I'll have to go all the way to Middlebury tomorrow to pick some up. Maybe if I can get someone to watch the kids, my husband and I will go out one last time before the baby is born - maybe out to eat...
I had ordered two turkeys for my family, so that I can have them for the freezer. Although, my husband wants one baked tomorrow because he never has had a fresh, free-range turkey. It was always frozen.
So, it looks like we will be sick of turkey by the second week of December, we will be sick of turkey. I may take this opportunity to make some pre-made lunches for the days that I don't feel like cooking right after the baby is born. Usually, for about three days after the baby is born, I don't cook or do much of anything.
Well, there is the exception after last time when I cleaned the livingroom before the midwife showed up for the follow-up visit. She was ready to scold me about needing rest when I hastily told her that my husband helped. That was actually true since he watched the kids while I did it. That helped a lot and I was able to get the livingroom clean rather quickly with the baby in what is similar to a "Snuggli" (same concept, different brand).
My little refrigerator is stuffed. I bought a few things to make some veggie dish for Thanksgiving to bring with me to my mother's house (we will probably make some bread too). Afterwards, my little fridge will be very empty.
Perhaps I'll have to get a bunch of leftovers from my mother, so I won't have to go shopping yet again this week.
