My son is on his way to the hospital. He just left a few minutes ago. He has the symptoms of appendicitis - or maybe an intestinal infection. We're not sure. I hope that it isn't serious and maybe, just maybe it's something that doesn't require surgery.
I pray that he would be one of those that go in and get out without further incident. But it's hard to have faith when you hear so many horror stories. In my head, I know an appendectomy is a fairly basic surgery and it's been done (albeit sometimes unnecessarily) many times before. I don't think a surgeon hasn't done one before, unless he's a resident.
It has gotten me thinking, though. Maybe sometimes I've been a little too harsh on him. Or maybe I'm just feeling the unnecessary guilt a mother always feel. Either way, I miss my boy already.
