Does anyone know a natural remedy that takes care of pregnancy heartburn?
I never get heartburn, unless I'm pregnant. As a matter of fact, right now I've been sipping water to keep the acid from doing a serious damage.
It's becoming annoying. There's no rhyme or reason to the heartburn and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat. It actually flared up after having a bowl of cereal yesterday.
I've been drinking so much water because of the heartburn tonight, I think my eyeballs are going to float out of the sockets. And of course there's my bladder, in which the capacity has been reduced to 1/10th.
Excuse me while I go and empty it for the umpteenth time.

A teaspoon of yellow mustard (French's or something) will usually fix it in about 20 seconds... I know that sounds weird, but the basic chemistry behind that old-time-home-remedy is brilliant (adding alkali to acid)... Instant neutralization.
I'll give that a shot sometime. The only problem is that I have only dijion mustard. I'll pick some up the next time I go to the store.
Also try Papaya Pills if you are still having trouble. I have heard from about 80-90% of the pregnant women I worked with that it was fantastic. Hope it works and I'm very excited for you having a home birth!
Jen-
My midwife said to try papaya, but the only papaya that I know of has been candied. I've been trying to avoid sugar since I end up crashing pretty hard later.
I'll see if the co-op here has papaya pills. I didn't think of that.
