Note: This entry does go into some reproductive health issues. After all, I'm talking about my pregnancy.
The midwife showed up around 1:30pm and she checked me out. It turns out that the baby is REALLY low, but my cervix is still not ready yet. So there's no real worry about going to early, but she did say to limit my activities. My husband jokingly said that he paid for a home birth and he will get a home birth.
He agreed to abstain from sex for a week, since semen can soften the cervix (they use pig semen in the hospital to soften the cervix) . Of course, when I reach that magic 36 1/2 weeks, I plan to make that night for him special for being so patient. Of course, I have to not clean too much either. I'm sure vacuuming is out of the question. I say this as I look at some mysterious crumbs that ended up on the carpet today.
Gah! Perhaps I can bat my eyelashes at my husband and get him to do it, or maybe I can blame it on my sister's son so she will be inclined to do it herself. ;) I'm kidding of course. I'll just have to gnaw on my knuckles for a week to keep myself from vacuuming.
She said that it will be easier to prevent the contractions then it will be to stop them. The baby is so low, that once I'm in labor, there's no stopping me from delivering.
This makes me nervous, I don't like the idea of going so fast that there's no one here to help. I have the speed dial ready...
Since I can't clean that much this week, it's a good thing I put those toys away. The livingroom would be trashed again tonight. The kids have the same problem as we do, too much stuff and nowhere to put it. They did help me get rid of a lot of toys, but they still have too much.
I need to teach them that not only they don't need all those things, but they need a place to put all those things. Especially since my mother-in-law likes to get freebie toys from various of places (you won't believe what people throw out in the midwest). Here, most people sell their toys in yard sales and at the second-hand children's shop. The Salvation Army has been limiting their intake of anything.
I have been trying to re-train my mind into liking the simple things in life. Less stuff is better, appreciate the simpler things in life, and of course ... Is that an Olympus Evolt E-300 8.0 Megapixel SLR Digital Camera Kit with 14-45mm Lens?! Drool...
