Mindless computer games...

Well, I wouldn't considered Stronghold 2 to be completely mindless, after all, it is a strategy game. But it is a way to waste time. It's one of those games that you play for only what seems like a "few minutes" only to find that you missed breakfast and lunch and now it's dinner time.

My husband did that yesterday. I warned him about the fact that it puts you into some sort of time warp, but I think he was too busy wondering how the outlaws are getting past his guards and destroying some building to hear me.

He ended up going to bed one hour before he had to get up for work. I'm sure it will be difficult to wake him up early to spend time with him.

I love playing Stronghold. But after getting into that time warp way too many times, I had been avoiding playing it. It does have a save feature, and the last few times, I had set the timer on my watch so that I would only play an hour - then save it.

My 5-year-old son loves the game as well and is fairly good at it. It's quite funny to watch him line the wall with archers then make his lord run back and forth along the wall, with the enemy knights hot on his tail. The results is that the archers end up killing the knights and the lord only suffers minor injuries (indicated by the little life status bar above the head of the lord). Typically, that's how he wins the seige game.

My husband started to play the game again today, but he stuck to just a seige (as opposed to freebuild, where the game really never ends). He did go to bed a little late, but not as late as yesterday. He'll get a full 6.5 hours of sleep if I don't wake him up. Of course if I don't wake him up, he may miss out on his last chance before the baby is born.

Decisions...
