An interesting article on parenting: Children and Pessimism
From www.mercola.com
Some parents are so eager to teach their kids what not to do that they forget to teach them on what they should do.
When a kid complains about bullies "just ignore them" really isn't a good answer. My parents told me that when a bully picked on me and it didn't stop. I wasn't the only one he was picking on and when he actually hit someone else, I ended up beating him up with a metal lunchbox, but not because he was picking on someone else. It was because of the fact that I had a hard time controlling my temper and didn't know how to deal with the hostility I felt towards the bully (or bullies in general).
I'm glad that I came across this article because now I will have the tools I need if my son gets into the same situation.
